Ingredients
- Simple Syrup
- 1 cup of water
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 double shot of espresso
- 3/4 cup of milk
- 3 tsp of chai tea
- 1 tsp cinnamon sugar
- 1 star anise
How to Make It
To make the Dirty Chai Latte, start by making a simple syrup. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring to a boil, and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool. Meanwhile, prepare a double shot of espresso and pour it into a large mug.
Next, in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, whisk together 1 cup of milk and 1 chai tea bag (or 1 tablespoon of loose chai tea). Bring it to a boil, then remove from heat and let the tea steep for 15 minutes. Once done, pour 1 tablespoon of your cooled simple syrup into the mug with the espresso.
Strain about 2/3 cup of the steeped milk tea into the mug using a fine mesh strainer. Top your Dirty Chai Latte with milk foam and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Garnish with a star anise, and it’s ready to serve!
