That means channeling, sour shots, bitterness, and inconsistent espresso, no matter how good your beans are.
This dual-sided tamper and distributor helps you prep your puck evenly before every shot, so your espresso extracts smoother, richer, and more consistently.
First, distribute your grounds for a level coffee bed. Then flip the tool and tamp with consistent pressure every time.
Less mess. Less guesswork. Better espresso in your cup.

Load your portafilter basket with the desired amount of freshly ground coffee. Keep things tidy by using our Dosing Funnel.
Step 2: Prepare
Retract the distributor side to its shallowest depth, and place the distributor on your portafilter, blade side down.
Step 3: Distribute
Gently spin the distributor until your coffee grounds have been evenly distributed and leveled. If the distributor does not reach the coffee, adjust the depth accordingly. Note: you do not want to be applying heavy pressure to the grounds at this stage -- only enough to level the coffee in the basket.
Step 4: Tamp
Flip the distributor over and extend the tamper (flat side) to its maximum height. Tamp your grounds to your desired pressure. For consistent tamping every time, adjust the tamper depth so it matches the depth of the tamp you just created.
In general, I like this. It distributes the coffee pretty well, especially in combo with a WDT tool. And the heavy weight makes it much more effective at tamping than the tamper Breville includes with its espresso machine. But coffee tends to get caught up between the metal distributer and the black bit. It's easy to get it out, but it does mess up with the dosing.
I do really like how this is compatible with the dosing funnel!
I was skeptical when I first saw this distributor as it looks vastly different from all I’ve seen in my search for one. Pulled the trigger after watching a barista use it on YouTube. I was pleasantly surprised when I received it as it was heavy and built better that anticipated. It works flawlessly and has vastly improved my espresso preparation in that I can now pull a much better shot. Highly recommend.
Really liked the distributor and tamper. Only took a short time to tune it in and adjust. Makes getting a good even and consistent tamp so much easier . Thanks.

To us, coffee is a ritual. And we want you to love every moment of it. To take joy in the process of measuring and grinding. To experience confidence while distributing and tamping. To rejoice in the sight of the perfect extraction. And of course, to love every drink you make, every time you make it.
